The System Usability Scale (SUS) was created by John Brooke who, in 1986, created this ‘quick and dirty’ usability scale to evaluate different kinds of systems. The SUS has been utilized for almost 30 years and has become a reliable method of evaluating the usability of systems compared to industry standards.
practical tips
- Don’t use SUS to diagnose usability problems.
- SUS can be used on very small sample sizes (as few as two users) and still generate reliable results.
